Cutting short the exhibiting of panda can make way to handle the influx of visitors, scientists, and veterinarians isn't it?. Thus I feel that the pair A and E can also make for the answer.

I had the same confusion. Words abridged and truncated sounded apt for the sentence. However, looking at the dictionary meaning of Augmented(To make (something already developed or well under way) greater, as in size, extent, or quantity) and meliorated(to make better), these two words serve a better meaning to the sentence.

Truncating or abridging the exhibit wouldn't exactly be called "handling the influx".
