Given: x² + 2xy + y² = 25
Factor to get: (x + y)(x + y) = 25
So: (x + y)² = 25
We can conclude that EITHER x + y = 5 OR x + y = -5
This means that EITHER (x + y)³ = (5)³ = 125 OR (x + y)³ = (-5)³ = -125

From how I see it... we know that x^2 + 2x + y^2 = (x + y)(x + y) = 25. Thus we can conclude that (x + y) = 5. Hence, (x + y)^3 = 25*5 = 125
