The figure above shows a circular garden plot with center O surrounded by a circular sidewalk, also with center O. If the area covered by the garden and sidewalk together is 169p and of the garden alone is 144p, what is the value of t ?

A) 1

B) 2

C) 3

D) 5

E) 12.5

Here thus p stands for pi?

Yes it is

1
Let, x= radius for inner circle
Area covered by the garden and sidewalk is pi*(x+t)^2=169pi or, (x+t)=13
Area covered by the garden alone is pi*x^2=144pi or, x=12
So x+t-x=13-12 or, t=1
So the answer is A
