From the argument, it is evident that the news channel previously broadcasted local and weather news allocating less time in the national news. Over the past few years, it has diverted its focus on the national news giving less coverage to local and weather news for which they are receiving complaints. However, it is not apparent from the argument that why they are getting complains about, is it because giving less time on weather and local news or the efficacy of the news. it could be the case that the weather forecasts given by the channel have turned out to be completely wrong. The channel said there would be a clear day tomorrow but in reality, there was heavy rain, this might irritate people. Furthermore, the channel's increased concentration has become national news so they might have now ignoring the local news and missing some important local incidents which caused the viewers who only relied on the channel's news great inconvenience and they started compliaining. This could be avoided if the channel accurately analysis the needs of viewers and allocate the necessary time to each news section.

In addition, the channel has recently lost its advertisements by the local businesses. There are also complaints from the viewers. So the channel wants to restore its news to the former level. However, there is not any mention in the argument what amount of time was allocated for national news before. Did the channel not broadcast any national news at all or just a little amount only? Without knowing that I can not conclude if the decision of restoring previous plan is effective. Because people need to know what is happening at the national level. For example, when someone goes outside of his native region he needs to know the current situation of that place because the situation cannot be convenient all the time. There might be any natural calamities or criminal activities from which he needs to be aware of. So, late night news program has to have important national news included. 

Furthermore,  the channel has started to lose its advertisements from local businesses, so it can try to convince national level businesses for advertisements instead of just ignoring the national news. Also, this might be the case that people are complaining because they have totally ignored local and weather news over the past year. So they should make a balance between national news and local and weather news . Because both are necessary  for people.
