Official Explanation

It can be inferred from the passage that the author would agree with which of the following statements?

Explanation

Choice B is supported by the author ’s statements in the second paragraph that there are obvious associations and connections between biometrics and criminality. Choice C is supported by the author ’s statements in the beginning of the second paragraph, since both refer to a public preference, which indicates that public perception is an important consideration.

Answer: B and C

Select the sentence in the passage in which the author expresses skepticism about a term.

Explanation

By surrounding the term “known criminals” with quotation marks, the author is implying that the conventional use of this term may be either invalid or based on questionable evidence.

(The last sentence: Indeed, in the … Britain.)

Carcass Sir, please explain question 2 ? how we get to know which term the question is talking about? and i don't sense any questionable or doubtable thing in the last sense , also the sentence starting with "Indeed" give the hint about it's certainty.

Gret question and also it is legit.

however, in the last sentence do not fall into the trap of the initial word Indeed.

read the entire sentence: notice how known criminals is in quotation marks . That means the quotation expresses the doubt that those criminals are indeed so or that the biometrics marker are not so precise.

Notice also , and this is quite important, that the same sentence tells us

systems have been initially trialed on those exceptional cases with the fewest rights,

we had a trial of the system on those people more vulnerable: exceptional cases with FEWEST rights. I.E. easy targets. On which, we could back up our theory that the biometrics systems work fine.

I hope this helps
