Ersatz means

Quote:
serving as a substitute; synthetic; artificial:

nugatory means

Quote:
of no real value; trifling; worthless.

Sorry guys I mismatch the answer choices Ersatz as B and Nugatory as C and not the other way around. Fixed it and sorry once again :)

Thank you

Hi! I matched the option of this question with my 5lb book of gre practice problems. The option four of this question 'parallel' in book is given as 'mimetic'. So, please explain why that option cannot be the possible answer.

You didnt notice that this is the second edition of the book.

What you pointed out is referring to the first edition.

Trap answer: a “parallel” can be a thing that is similar to or analogous to another, the
way fake meat is analogous to real meat. However, when used as an adjective, as it is here,
“parallel” only means aligned and equidistant.
