The blank refers to the state of mind shared among those to whom short-term fixes are convenient. Aestheticism refers to design so is unrelated to the subject of this passage. Myopia works because someone who is myopic is narrow-minded, which makes sense in this sentence. Skepticism is not the best choice because it is not closely related to a preference of short-term fixes. Inventiveness and paranoia do not work in this sentence for similar reasons. B

why cant the answer be C - skepticism ?
"refused to consider a complete overhaul" can be considered as being skeptic !

Can someone please provide more explaination and reasoning between the answer choices B n C ?

They have a short view. They do not see in the long period or they do not see the big picture or implications

So if they do not see well in the context they are blind, they do not understand so B is the answer

C is wrong because do not reflect this vision or outlook

Answer Choice - B

The context clue that the senator finds short-term fixes expedient suggests myopia, which means near-sightedness or short-sightedness. The other choices don’t make sense in the sentence.

Clearly, the answer is myopic.
