I chose `expediency , rationalized , platitude`.
Last blank, I was confused between platitude and misnomer.

Can someone explain the answer?

Nowhere in the sentence it has been mentioned that the phrase has been used quite a number of times for it to be useful.
Misnomer means a wrong designation.
Platitude means an overused remark that no longer holds interesting or thoughtful.
At the start of sentence it is clearly mentioned that sometimes principles are sacrificed.

Tricky

The principles are sacrificed to the practicality or the concrete way of doing something.

The process, though, must be recognized and in the end, we defined it with a misleading word such as pragmatic decision but in the end the process behind that decision is all but pragmatic or ponderated

I have the principle to NOT lie to my friends. However, this is not possible 100% of the time. For several reasons or practicality

So sometimes the principles are sacrificed to various situations or expediencies.


The process is recognized or individuated and we give it a misleading or misnomer word such as pragmatic decision but in the end is something that we are not willing to do but forced by the context.

I hope now is more clear

Platitude means flat, cliche... doesnt make sense

Carcass ---> shouldn't second blank be rationalized? --> Please help

Rationalize means to attempt to explain or justify (behavior or an attitude) with logical reasons. This fits perfectly.

Sometimes, people abandon/ditch their principles because of convenience and justify it as "pragmatic decision". Therefore, rationalize fits the most.
