Answer is 55.
Since the sum of the first three is 241
Thus
241+x/3 = 74
which gives x=55

It should be 241+X/4=74

Aaron’s first three quiz scores were 75, 84, and 82. If his [#permalink]

Scores = 75 , 84 , 82
Sum of scores = 75+84+82 = 241

Now it is given that after adding the fourth quiz score the average reduced to 74

Let's take score of 4th quiz = x

Average = 74 = \(\frac{241+x}{4}\)

x = 55

The new average is 74.
therefore the mark scored in the last test- 75+84+82+X/ 4 =74

241+x/4= 74
x= (74*4)-241
x=55

Show: :: OA
55

Another Approach:

Since the average on 4 tests is 74
Let us see the difference between the overall average and each score

\(75 - 74 = 1\)
\(84 - 74 = 10\)
\(82 - 74 = 8\)

i.e. he has 19 surplus of 74, so we must subtract it from 74
\(74 - 19 = 55\)
