Re: Molly worked at an amusement park over the summer. Every two [#permalink]
Hi,
I do not understand this statement in the question: "plus an additional amount equal to the sum of all payments she had received in previous weeks".
To me, according to this statement, after the 4th week, Molly's total pay until that 4th week should be = 1 + 160 = 161; here, 160 being the "additional amount" = sum of all payments she received in previous week, which is only the amount she received after week 2 i.e. 160.

Why are we then adding the 4th week payment (161) again to 2nd week payment (160) to get a cumulative of 321 at the end of week 4?

I am confused. Please help me understand this question statement.

all payments she had received in previous weeks.

So the first 2 week is 160

#3 and #4 161

+ ALL the previous week therefore

160= #1 and #2 week

+ 161= #3 and #4 week

160+161=321

Hope this helps
