To clarify, there are infinitely many negative values of k that make the above statement false. These values include -1, -2, -3, ....-8, -9, -10, -20, -21, -22, -23..... forever

Of these values, the greatest is -1

The greatest negative integer, k, that makes the above state [#permalink]

I thought the answer very logically . let me know if this is the right or smart way .?

10<|k|<20

A: the greatest negative number (which make statement true)that saisfies the equation is -11 , if we put that 10<|-11|<20 that means 10<11<20

B: The greatest negative integer, k, that makes the above statement false will be -1 ,if we put that 10<|-1|<20 that means 10<1<20 (thus false)

and we know that -1 is the greatest negative integer so Quantity B.

i solved this on simple logic that as the number gets negative it gets smaller and smaller.
