The two quantities in the end will be positive

However, both a and b could be the same number and the two Qs are equal and the answer C

Or a and b can be different or fractions and the answer would depend

D is the definitive answer

I tried a = 10 b = 1 answer is C
and a= 1/2 and b= 1/4 answer is C

I think the case u are talking about is where the a & b could be + or -ve.
May you pls elaborate ?

I think the answer could be D because the root could be positive or negative, so it could be
(a + b) : in which case theyre equal
or
-(a + b) : in which case A is greater

hence D?
