Here

Sum of 11 numbers = 11*15 = 165
Let the 12th number = x

We can write

\(\frac{165 + x}{12}\)=14

Solving

165 + x = 168
X = 3

Re: The average (arithmetic mean) of eleven numbers is 15. When [#permalink]
Theory

    ➡ Average = Sum of all the Values / Total Number of Values
    ➡ Sum of all the Values = Average * Total Number of Values

The average (arithmetic mean) of eleven numbers is 15

Sum of 11 numbers = Average * 11 = 15 * 11 = 165

When a twelfth number is added, the average of the twelve numbers is 14

Sum of 12 numbers = Average * 12 = 14*12 = 168

Twelfth number = Sum of 12 numbers - Sum of 11 numbers = 168 - 165 = 3

Clearly, Quantity B(4) > Quantity A(3)

So, Answer will be B.
Hope it helps!
