The area of the region \(PQR\) is \(15\)
Quantity A |
Quantity B |
The area of the shaded region \(PRS\) |
\(9\) |
A)The quantity in Column A is greater.
B)The quantity in Column B is greater.
C)The two quantities are equal.
D)The relationship cannot be determined from the information given.
Kudos for the right answer and explanation
Here,
fig is right angled \(\triangle\) PQS
so,\( 10^2 = 6^2 + {QS}^2\)
or\( QS^2 = 64\)
or \(QS = 8\) ( length of \(\triangle\) cannot be negative)
Now, Area of the \(\triangle PQS \)
\(\frac{1}{2} * base * height\)
= \(\frac{1}{2} * 6 * 8 = 24\)
Therefore, Area of the shaded region PRS = \(24 - 15 = 9\)
I.e option C
