Lemme know if this shortcut helps.
we know that x is between 7.5 and 8.5 percent because they didnt say if it was rounded up or down.
First:
1 percent of 4400 = 44
then 8.5 percent of 4400 = 8*44 + 1/2* 44= 374
7.5 percent of 4400 = 7* 44* 1/2* 44= 330
8 percent of 4400 = 8*44= 352

the choice is between 330 and 374, no more, no less

4,400 participants in a study were surveyed regarding side effects of a new medication, and x percent reported experiencing drowsiness. If x is rounded to the nearest integer, the result is 8. Which of the following could be the number of survey participants who reported experiencing drowsiness?

Indicate all such values.

A. 325
B. 330
C. 352
D. 375

Show: :: OA
B and C

The equation will be \(7.5\leq{x}<8.5\)...
So, the number, say n, will lie in the range \(4400*8.5>n\geq{7.5*4400}\), that is \(374>n\geq{330}\)
so B and C

Using calculator will help to answer the question in around 15 to 20 seconds

A quick doubt- if x was, in fact, 8, there would have been no need to round it to the nearest integer, which the question specifically says has happened.
8% gives 352 as the answer, so I didn't select it given the above reasoning.

Could you please explain? Thank you.

You're right but we are asked that which of the following COULD be the number.
So more than 1 may correct.

Hence we need to take the limit \(7.5\leq{x}<8.5\)

Hope that clears your doubt. Feel free to ask if unclear.
