hello, I do not understand from the point of 1-1/101. How do you come to a conclusion that the sum is 1-1/101?

Study the sequence carefully. Notice that -1/2 cancels out the +1/2 following it, and that the -1/3 also cancels out the +1/3. This pattern continues leaving out the first and last figures in the sequence being 1and -1/100

Hello! I don't understand why the first number is 1? By the formula, we have that it is 1/2, no? a_k = 1/k- 1/k+1; a_1= 1/1-1/(1+1)=1/2
