Re: A frog is climbing a greasy pole. The frog can climb 2 centimeters eve [#permalink]

I used the following approach:

rate of climbing up = 2 cm/ .5hr
distance climbed up in 2 hr = 8cm

distance slid down in subsequent .5 hr = 1 cm

net distance climbed in 2.5 hr block = 8-1 = 7 cm

total distance to climb = 28 cm

Therefore, number of 2.5hr blocks to climb 28 cm = 28/7 = 4

total time = 4*2.5 = 10hr

What am i missing here?
Please help!
Thank you.

The frog never used the last rest, because he came to the end without achieving that time when he needs that rest.
