Re: Approximately what percent of the African countries in the c [#permalink]
the word 'also' in the last part of the question is quite confusing.

That word also means, actually, an overlapping situation.

Se the explanation above provided by our expert.

Approximately what percent of the African countries in the chart above that have a GDP between $10 billion and $20 billion also have a population between 10 million and 20 million?
(A) 6%
(B) 23%
(C) 26%
(D) 30%
(E) 51%

From the chart, we can see ...
Attachment:
Approximately what percent of the African countries in the chart1.png

...that there are 13 African countries that have a GDP between $10 billion and $20 billion

Among those 13 countries ...

Approximately what percent of the African countries in the chart2.png

...3 of them have a population between 10 million and 20 million

Percent of countries = (100)(3)/13
= 300/13
≈ 23%

Answer: B

Brent

But the question says approximately what percent of the African countries shouldn't we consider 50 instead of 13?

Approximately what percent of the African countries in the c [#permalink]

The stem is: Approx what percent of the African countries in the chart above that have a GDP between $10 billion and $20 billion also have a population between 10 million and 20 million

So among the countries that have a GDP between $10 billion and $20 billion, how many have a population between 10 million and 20 million as well?

So we have 13 countries with GDP between $10-20 bn & among those 3 also have a population between 10-20 mn.

%age = \(\frac{3}{13} * 100\)% \(≈ 23\)%
