Thanks. I did read that answer before too but I was not sure how were we assuming the correct %values of Borate, in terms of GDP. The bar graph is not on perfect values like 2 or 3%. But I guess we are just giving our best approximation

For the 2nd question it is asking about the percentage of copper in GDP. Suppose we assume the total GDP to be 100$ , then metal contribute 9$ to it . Now copper is 16% of all the metals , which would come to 1.44$ , or alternatively it contributed to 1.44% of the total GDP ( nowhere close to any answer choice)
Can someone explain where am I flawed in this reasoning ?

Hi,

from the GDP graph we know that metals are 9% of the GDP.....

Now the second graph gives us the information of metals in term of % of mining production.
So now we have a term to compare GDP and copper production..

metals which are 50%(12+22+16) of mining production are 9% of GDP..
so 1% of mining production will be \(\frac{9}{50}\)..
16% of mining production, nothing but the copper production, will be \(\frac{16*9}{50}\)=\(\frac{144}{50}=2.88\) ~3

Natural Resource Industries' Output as a Percentage of Gr [#permalink]
Hi, thank you for detailed explanation, can I ask why you could determine that y scale value of fig 1 shows % not normalized value ?
If we think that y scale value in fig 1 as normalized values or values which reflect something of absolute value, answer will be differed and I took wrong option here.

Please never mind, I scaled up the figure and it conceals the explanation sentence.
Now I see " Natural Resource Industries' Output as a Percentage of Gross Domestic Product in Province P" then I understand why we can assume 9 is %.

Sorry for if I caused confusion.
