GIVEN: 2x + y = z
QUANTITY A: value of z when x = − 1 and y = 3
Plug values into given equation to get: 2(-1) + 3 = z
Evaluate: 1 = z
QUANTITY B: value of z when x = −2 and y = 2
Plug values into given equation to get: 2(-2) + 2 = z
Evaluate: -2 = z
We get:
QUANTITY A: 1
QUANTITY B: -2
Answer: A
