A master of circumlocution, Hitchens writes with a spontaneous, understated, (i)____ style, orbiting a target with asides and allusions until it is all but lost from sight. Then he suddenly stops dancing and punches with his whole arm. At times all the ironical, wordy sentences and name-dropping can feel like (ii)____. But more often, Hitchens‘s luminous style and his ingenious development of an argument (iii)____.

Since, he is orbiting a target with asides and allusions until it all but lost from sight, the word for the first blank must be digressive. Since the target is lost sight of, all the ironical, wordy sentences and name-dropping can feel like obfuscation. The next sentence introduces an opposite idea with "but, more often", hence his luminous style and his ingenious development of an argument thrill.
