With five pairs of choices, this looks like the olden double blank Sentence completion question, where the focus was on finding one appropriate pair of choices from among five, going in tandem.

I think it is A , as it is difficult to come to terms with DA's attempt to not present false evidence whilst presenting defence which is convincing therefore cautious for blank 2 and for blank 1 effort
