Answer choice E is a paraphrase of the first sentence of paragraph 2.

This is what the text says:
"Scholars of women’s history should, however, be as cautious about accepting oral narratives at face value as they already are about written memories."

The author is saying that scholars should be as cautious about oral narratives as about written memories.

This is exactly what we get with Answer Choice E:
Scholars of women's history should refrain from... (E) Accepting women's oral narratives less critically than they accept women's written histories
