Hello everyone.

My prep journey has now ended that I have officially gotten into my target school starting this September.

During my prerp for the GRE I spent the most time on refining my vocabulary, and so I built an macro excel workbook that helped me learn words efficiently. I honestly think it was a big part in why I got a great score.

I have spent a lot of time making it and so I thought it would be a shame just to delete it, so instead I am attaching here for any future aspiring GRE preppers!

To just use the tool in the deafult way (without adding any new words or changing the order of words), you just take a look at the word that appears in cell Z4, you say out loud what you think the definition of that word is, then you click the "Definition" button right below it. This will make the actual definition appear. If what you said out loud and the displayed definitions match (not necessarily word for word, but closely aligned in 'spirit'), then you hit the "Correct" button, which will record this entry in the log table below starting from row 30. Obviously, if you didn't get it right, then you'd press "Incorrect" and that will also be recorded.

As you go through the words, the log will fill up more and more and in cell AD32 you will see your correct percentage, updating live every time you define a word. I would suggest that you aim for an outcome where before your actual exam your last attempt in this file gives you over 98% (I had an accuracy of 99.2% before I took my exam).

In total there are 1282 words in the file, and they include many of the words that are known to appear often in GRE questions.

However, if you want to add more words, simply go to the bottom of the list in column AI, and add a new entry right below the already existing bottom entry. Add the serial number, the word, and the definition. In order for the new words to be coming up, you will need to paste their serial numbers somewhere in column AY, which is the list in ORDER - meaning if you want to switch up the order in which the words get displayed on top, simply rearrange the order in column AY. When you want to start over for some reason, make sure that you set the cell BA3 to "0" - this way, the next time you either hit correct or incorrect, the new word will come next based on the order you set in column AY.

Anyway, the explanation of how to use the tool might sound complicated, but for simple use without adding any new words of messing with the order of the questions, it is very intuitive and straight forward.
