Drinking too much coffee can deteriorate mental condition can cause dementia and stroke. If there is more consumption of coffee then it's very harmful for health, there is decrease in size of brain (suggested by researcher). So, there are lot of side effects of coffee. However, there is also improvement when coffee is taken with some wine and chocolate (suggested by nutritional researchers).

P1: Police caught Mr. Kaffer and they found Conophytums

p2: Mr. Kaffer was doing illegal stuffs(succulent poaching which is a threat to biodiversity). He gets arrested by investigator (Capt. Du Toit)

p3: Plant cases were increasing and Investigation was also going great unless there was no lockdown. Due to this pandemic, many people find the illegal path.

p4: Pandemic has cause increase in the number of unemployment. Mr. Kaffer is the one where he was poor and to help his family he was doing poaching.

p5: The cases were increasing not only on succulents poaching but also the other types like haworthias, adromischus etc. Example of Korean poacher stealing farinosa plants.

p6: It was difficult to track the people trading for rare plant so the project manager from Africa come up with project to track illegal online trade.

p7: People were unaware of doing illegal things. On contrast, they might be pretending to be ingenuous. Online plant trading can be used for "charismatic" species

p8: Making money from this online trading seems to be difficult.

Pandemic does not cause poverty, rather it causes unemployment, which in turn caused poverty.

Due to the increasing unemployment caused by the pandemic, there is a significant rise in plant poaching of endangered species and internet is exacerbating the illegal poaching

Notice the subtle difference which the option choices have to easily trick the test taker.

Hope this helps!

My summary for the short passage for today:

Para 1:
>> New research has found a new alarming relation between smoking excessive weed and mental illnes
>> A team of scientists identified a link between cannabies use disorder and schizopernia
>> While there are limitation to this research , this research does reveal that weed consumption is not safe as many assume it to be , especially heavy consumption of weed

Para 2:
>> This research cannot for sure determine the corelation between smoking weed and dveeloping schizopernia and hence other factors must be considered such as unrelated increase in diagnozing schizopernia
>> But researchers belive that there is some cause such as unrelated increase in cannabis use, weed being more powerful and weed directly affecting risk factors of schizopernia, which suggest that there is real danger to smoking weed and emphasis that cannabis use is harmful.

Para 3:
>> Researchers maintain that this has to be replicated elsewhere to draw firm conclusions, but they are posotive to find simlar traces wehre use and potency of cannabis has increased, as many studies suggest that cannabis is the driver of schizopernia

And for this long post:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Egs ... _-G4Q/edit

I have summarized this:

There is a general concept about the feature of the hummingbird, only the beauty. Scientists also have lackings in the conception. In recent findings, scientists have found the use of its deadly beak for the fight for making territory with another male, the best territory for sucking nectar. And new finding rejects the previous one of how these birds suck nectar using their tongue. And also hummingbirds are used to examine their unique flying process.

In a nutshell, the conception about the hummingbirds regarding their features is not only limited to the beauty but also newly found research is representing new ideas like its war-like features, territory making process, flying technique.

Summary:

The passage is started with the importance of getting the right information through the Millenium Development Goals. And no big investment hasn't proceeded for making health information available for all. And then showed with statistics that because of the scarcity of healthcare information in different countries people aren't getting the proper care for severe diseases and many of them are dying when the cure is available. Govt. are also in lack of sharing the health information while analysts are suggesting to make this info sharing with mass people as political and civil rights.

NASA was an having an arbitrary motion in space which was unexpected so they turned to Roscosmos, Russia’s -space agency. NASA lost their communication(It was the ground control who lost their communication with the crew, I think the crew implies to the astronaut's team because that is what the author discusses in the previous line) but later on they found that it was another russian module. However, there was software glitch, the 7 astronauts from NASA were felt that they were absolutely fine. As it is said that astronauts are always in danger, they don't want to reveal any kind of information regarding ISS. So NASA manager(The author presents the situation or the glich the manager had experienced before which was also related to the russian tech and prove his point that the astronauts are always in danger) giving an example of Roscosmos, when crew scoured the station they found a tiny hole in a Soyuz capsule in russian astronaut vehicle. In past years, astronaut was only the person to travel to space, now even billionaire person can visit the space. ISS has great technology and soon we can visit and explore the space(I did not find this in the article).

Hi There!

A good one! This is how I would try to summarize, this might help :) and let me know if I am wrong

P1: This para gives us a background about what happened and how did NASA try to find the issue by reaching out to Roscosmos.
P2: Gives us further details about the issue, and the cause. And gives an expert view on the danger experienced/not experienced by the astronaut
P3: Further delineates the danger astronauts are in, by giving an expert opinion and providing examples of past incidents.
P4 The author the discusses the autonomy of the space flights by giving examples that billionaires have already started flying and they made it look easy but it remains dangerous for professional astronauts and tourists
P5: Discusses about ISS, and how it is like a home, but this notion does not lasts long and a sudden fire can jolt the astronauts back in reality and lasts with them even after the go to space.

How does the above help?

If you focus on nouns, you are trying to remember the whole passage even the details, try to limit the use of nouns in the summary. Focus only on those which acts important like NASA in some sentence and Roscosmos in other. Writting a paragraph summary also help you to quickly answer question based on a particular paragraph like what role does xyz paragraph play, so instead of lookint at the whole para a summary gives you a concise picture and also to the main idea of the whole passage along with each paragraph's relation with the other.

Hope this helps!

Central Idea of the passage - The new research stating relation between excessive weed smoking and developing schizophrenia
Tone of the author is - Cautious and speculative

Main purpose of the passage - Since most of the passage is fact based and information based, the authors opinion is only stated twice in the passage. In my opinion, the central idea and tone combine to form the main purpose for this passage

Hi There!

No worries about the word limit, unless you are realistic, and are sure that you are going to write a couple hundred words on the real test and waste time. Anyway.

To paraphrase the central idea: The author merely presents the findings of the research and the speculation about the possible link between marijuana & schizophrenia.

As for the main idea I would say as it yet to be concluded as to whether MARIJUANA is causing SCHIZOPHRENIA and is just a hypothesis the main idea should have some tinge on this. So, it could be, to present research findings about a possible link between marijuana and schizophrenia. Notice possible is an important word here.

P.s. Carcass could you please help me with your opinion on the above analysis.

S

Well, the main purpose and central idea are the same thing

Also the central idea and tone combine to form the main purpose for this passage

This is wrong they are always two separate things

The tone is basically ok. It is cautious and eventually balanced or neutral

However, the main idea could be as the following

new pathways to link a possible cause and its effect though we do need further investigations.

Notice how the short passages are more difficult to spot the main idea due to their structure which is shorter than that in long passages

That is NOT totally correct.

the dead zone already exists for some reason and thet climate change exacerbates and extends this zone not only in terms of area of SQ miles but also in times AKA a long period all over the year.

Climate change is ONE of the reasons

Quote:
Chan added that experts aren’t quite sure what the long-term impacts of the Pacific Ocean’s various dead zones will be on its overall ecological health. But given that worsening climate change has caused the world’s oceans to lose a significant chunk of their oxygen over recent decades, we can probably expect to see bigger dead zones, and more frequently, as the global environment continues to fall apart.

Infamously the horsemen are 4

Quote:
It’s one of the horsemen of climate change in the sea
we do not know the others interactions

My take on the summary :
A new research tech active camouflage which is still in preliminary state ,helps in automatically blending into surroundings in real time .The system is tested on a chameleon bot which changes color depending on surfaces. This camouflage is being considered to be used for military purposes which is a dream for many and this new innovation opens path for many new innovations to come in the future.

It is good even though I would mention that the approach now to this avenue is different from the past experiments

For this long post, I have summarized it below.

Primary shareholders run the money flow in the company by funding and debt. Suggestions from secondary shareholders rarely applied and don’t get noticed. Even they can’t fully go against the company. Only the universal owners who aren't related to the company as shareholders but are connected to the primary shareholders by pension funds and others can raise voices against the company who violates the rule regarding environmental issues that should not get funds.
