Can you please share the explanation for this?

If we assume that Pat's current age is = 10
Then, Gerry's current age = 3*P = 3*10 = 30

Hence, Col A = 30 - 20 = 10
Col B = 10 + 12 = 22

Hence, Col B > Col A

If G=60 P=20, then 40 > 32
If G=21 P=7, then 1 < 19
So there is no way to judge.
