The key to a world problem is to read super carefully word by word
Hannah attended some college and earns 20% more than the average person in her educational category
So the category some college the salary was 750 increased by 20% so *1.2=900
After she earns her degree, she’ll earn the average weekly salary for bachelor’s degree holders.
She will earn 1200
Hannah will spend $6,000 in tuition and take a 50% pay cut for 30 weeks to earn the degree.
so to earn the degree. means the salary of 900 halved = 450 * 30 weeks = 13500 + 6000=19.500
Now is the key part
she need to work to recoup her lost wages and tuition using the extra money she will earn weekly
Now she earns 1200 and must regaing her money back. But the lost wage is that PRE Degree so it is 900 considering now she earns 1200.
IF she earns now 1200 and before 900 she must recover 300 per week. And considering also that the total amount is 19500, to cover this sum and the gap in her pocket is 300
19500/300=65 weeks
I don't get this why are we doing this subtraction, can't we just put 19500/1200=16 weeks

You have to focus on the EXTRA money NOT the actual salary of 1200
