If a, b, c, and d are consecutive integers and a < b < c < d, what is the average (arithmetic mean) of a, b, c, and d in terms of d?
Given that,
a < b < c < d
a, b, c and d are consecutive integers, so, let us suppose, a = d-3, b = d-2, c = d-1 and d = d
Average ( arithmetic mean) = a + b + c + d/ 4
= (d-3 + d-2 + d-1 + d) /4
By calculation, we get, d = 2d-3/2.
Thus, answer is C.
Given that,
a < b < c < d
a, b, c and d are consecutive integers, so, let us suppose, a = d-3, b = d-2, c = d-1 and d = d
Average ( arithmetic mean) = a + b + c + d/ 4
= (d-3 + d-2 + d-1 + d) /4
By calculation, we get, d = 2d-3/2.
Thus, answer is C.

Given that a, b, c, and d are consecutive integers and a < b < c < d, and we need to find what is the average (arithmetic mean) of a, b, c, and d in terms of d
a, b, c, d are consecutive integers
=> b = a + 1
=> c = b + 1 = a + 2
=> d = c + 1 = a + 3
=> a = d - 3
=> Average of a, b, c and d = \(\frac{a + b + c + d}{4}\) = \(\frac{a + a + 1 + a + 2 + a + 3}{4}\) => a + \(\frac{3}{2}\) = d - 3 + \(\frac{3}{2}\) = d - \(\frac{3}{2}\)
So, Answer will be C
