From the question,
A baker has made 60 pies in the first 5 hrs.
Hence the rate at which the baker is working is \(\frac{60}{5} = 12\) pies for hr
According to the question, the baker makes 150 pies in the 8 hr period.
Of 150 he still needs to make 150 - 60 = 90 pies in the remaining 3 hrs.
Hence he has to work at a rate of \(\frac{90}{3}\) = 30 pies per hr for the remaining period.
Therefore he increases his production rate by 30 - 12 = 18 pies per hr.
A baker has made 60 pies in the first 5 hrs.
Hence the rate at which the baker is working is \(\frac{60}{5} = 12\) pies for hr
According to the question, the baker makes 150 pies in the 8 hr period.
Of 150 he still needs to make 150 - 60 = 90 pies in the remaining 3 hrs.
Hence he has to work at a rate of \(\frac{90}{3}\) = 30 pies per hr for the remaining period.
Therefore he increases his production rate by 30 - 12 = 18 pies per hr.

We know
Work = Rate * Time
So for the first 5 hours we have;
60 = Rate * 5
Rate = 12 pies/hr
For the next 3 hour we have;
(150-60) = Rate * 3 (Since total pies is 150 and 60 pies were already prepared within 5 hrs; so in 3 hrs he prepare 150-60 pies)
Rate = 30 pies
Therefore the rate increased = 30 -12 = 18 pies/hr
