Quarter mile is 0.25 miles
Charges for 1st Mile is = $ 8.00 ; 3.5 Miles or 3.5/0.25 = 14 quarter miles are left and thus charges for remaining 3.5 miles is 14*1 = $14
Total cost of the journey is 8 + 14 = 22, Answer must be (C)
