If the arithmetic average of two numbers is 30 then we can set up the equation as
(x + y)/2 = 30
(x + y) = 60
-x -x
y = 60 - x
Answer A
(x + y)/2 = 30
(x + y) = 60
-x -x
y = 60 - x

Theory: Average = \(\frac{Sum Of All The Values}{Total Number Of Values}\)
If the average (arithmetic mean) of two numbers is 30 and one of the numbers is x
Let other number be y
=> Sum of all the values= x + y
Using, Average = \(\frac{Sum Of All The Values}{Total Number Of Values}\), We get
30 = \(\frac{x+y}{2}\)
=> x + y = 30*2 = 60
=> y = 60-x
So, Answer will be A
