In what town did the population increase by the greatest percent between 2000 and 2010?
(A) Town A
(B) Town B
(C) Town C
(D) Town D
(E) Town E
Here,
Only the differnce in Town A and Town C are greatest compared to others,so we can leave out the rest
Now the population rise in town A from 2000 to 2010 = 5000
therefore, % increase =
\frac{5000}{40000} * 100% = 12.5%the population rise in town C from 2000 to 2010 = 7000 (approx)
therefore, % increase = \(\frac{7000}{29000} * 100\)
% = 24%
Option C***For easy calculation , in town C - we can take the % increase as = \(\frac{6000}{30000}\) * 100% = 20% which is still greater than Town A
