Quick explanation for this one, since the answer options (at least to me) contained a few pretty obscure words.
Omar's actions were opposite to his words, so his actions signaled that he didn't actually like people (word following blank is loner). Misanthropic comes from the Greek words misos (hatred) and anthropos (man). So a person who dislikes people. These are two root words that may come in handy for these standardized tests, so keep them in mind (any word with anthro has to do with people).

Here clues are "he always discussed his appreciation of friends and family" and "yet" is contrary pivot here. So, we need a word meaning someone NOT appreciating friends and family. The choice E is best defines this.
