Hi guys,

I am looking for explanation on a quant question.... please explain..

Tuition per student:-

1960 -> $1400
1970 -> $2000
1980 -> $3700

The increase in tuition per student from 1970 to 1980 was
approximately how many times as great as the increase from
1960 to 1970?

This is an official question form the big book actually, and it has a graph along with

Tuition per student in 1960 = $1400
Tuition per student in 1970 = $2000
Tuition per student in 1980 = $3700

The increase in tuition per student from 1970 to 1980 was approximately how many times as great as the increase from 1960 to 1970?

increase in tuition per student from 1970 to 1980 = $3700 - $2000 = $1700
the increase from 1960 to 1970 = $2000 - $1400 = $600

We get: $1700 is approximately how many times as great as $600?
$1700 is approximately THREE TIMES as great as $600

Answer: C
