The best way for a society to prepare its young people for leadership in government, industry, or other fields is by instilling in them a sense of cooperation, not competition.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.
Humans have inherited a natural tendency to be cooperate as well as competitive. But it is very much important to instill a sense of cooperation to young people rather than competition. Because we live in a society where everybody depends on the other in some way.
It can be noted from our very beginning of learning, that is from schools itself. In schools, we have been practised to work in group, which emphasizes the need for teamwork in society later. In every team, there will be a team leader who drives the team to the way of success. From this act, leadership skills will improve within themselves. Hence in future, this will make them a good leader, regardless of the field.
Another example to which we can compare this statement is with sports like football, cricket and handball, where teamwork is more needed. While playing football, each player in a team should accept the captain's words and cooperate with other players to score more goals. If they compete within themselves as who will score more goals in cunning way, there is no chance of winning the game. Leadership flourish when they lead the team implementing cooperation, not competition.
On the other hand, competition should be present between two teams. If it is not, it will be a lackluster game for the audiences. If competition persists, definitely the game will become a healthy and interesting one. And here leadership does not play any direct role by supporting competition. Hence competition is needed to built our skills better than before.
Therefore, it can be concluded that instilling a sense of cooperation is the best way for a society to prepare its young people for leadership. Competition helps them to make their skills stronger and to know where they are in the society.
