Agree with that 100% -- I find that a lot of students who are generally good in math have a tendency to become overconfident -- almost as a matter of principle. The best mathematicians in the world have their 2+3 = 6 moments -- no reason to expect that that can't happen to you, especially under the time pressure of an important exam. It's a small time investment and invariably pays off in the final scores.
