When the numbers given in Quantity A are written in ascending order, it can be seen that they are evenly spaced in increments of 4: the set becomes {26, 30, 34, 38, 42, 46}. The average (mean) of an evenly spaced set is the same as its median, which is the middle number. In this case, because the number of terms is even, the median is given by the average of the middle two terms: 34+38/2=36
