How To Solve: Rationalize Roots
Attached pdf of this Article as SPOILER at the top! Happy learning!
Hi All,
I have recently uploaded a video on YouTube to discuss Rationalize Roots in Detail:
Following is covered in the video
ยค How to Rationalize Roots ยค Example 1 : Rationalize \(\frac{1}{โ๐โโ๐}\) ยค Example 2 : Rationalize \(\frac{1}{โ๐+โ๐}\) + \(\frac{1}{โ๐+โ๐}\)
How to Rationalize Roots
ยค To Rationalize the denominator we do computations to move the root term to the numerator. ยค This is usually done by multiplying the numerator and denominator with a conjugate of the denominator. ยค Thus the denominator becomes a whole number.
Example 1 : Rationalize \(\frac{1}{โ๐โโ๐}\)
To Rationalize \(\frac{1}{โ๐โโ๐}\) we will multiply the numerator and the denominator with the conjugate of the denominator. We can find the conjugate of โ๐โโ๐ by just inversing the sign between โ๐ and โ๐ => Conjugate of โ๐โโ๐ will be โ๐+โ๐
