For solving a problem which are given in complete ratio form , we have to assume a value for example 10 or 100 but, here considering 10 or 100 would complex your problem in solving so for that we take the a multiple of there denominator value .
8*9=72
Lets assume Cup A = 72 ml and so Cup B = 144 ml
Given Cup A is 2/9 full. = 16 ml
Cup B is 5/8 full = 90 ml
If the contents of Cup A are poured into Cup B
Cup B = 90+16=106ml
Ratio = present volume in Cup B/total volume of cup B
=106/144 = 53/72
