Given that Line k in the xy-plane has y-intercept 6 and contains the point (a, -2), where a > 0
Using general equation of a line, y = mx + b
where m is the slope of the line and b is the y-intercept
y-intercept is 6
=> Equation is y = mx + 6
Line contains point (a,-2)
=> (a,-2) will satisfy the equation of the line
=> -2 = m*a + 6
=> m = \(\frac{-8}{a}\)
Since a> 0
=> m = \(\frac{Positive}{Negative}\) => Negative
=> Quantity A (Slope of like k, m < 0) < Quantity B (1)
So, Answer will be B
Hope it helps!
