Let total distance = 100
Paul's avg speed = 100/(50/30 + 50/40) = 2 * 30 * 40/70 = 240/7 = 34.xx
Michel's avg speed = 100/(40/30 + 60/40) = 4/3 + 3/2 = 600/17 = 35.xx
