The passage is concerned with describing two theories regarding social media tools in the workplace. At no point does the passage actually compare the two studies. This points to (B). (A) is wrong. Meyers and Tassleman focus on whether these tools exert a positive effect (their answer is “yes” and “no,” depending on the size of the company), whereas Gershin focuses on whether social media tools are displacing other forms of office communication (in some areas “yes,” but not overall). (A) says that these two conclusions (the ones in parentheses above) lead to divergent, or opposite, conclusions. Since the two studies are focused on different aspects, they aren’t really that relevant to each another. There’s nothing contradictory about them since we don’t know the size of the company on which Gershin was focused. This researcher found that there was some use—and positive use (social events)—so this is consistent with what Meyers and Tassleman could have learned about a smaller company, one that sees some positive benefit to social media tools in the office place. (C) is also wrong. The author never takes a position on his/her views regarding the use of social media tools in the workplace. Therefore, it’s a stretch to say that the passage “promotes the benefits . . .” (D) is wrong. Again, the author simply describes the findings of the two studies. He/she doesn’t take a position on the findings. (E) is wrong. There’s no criticism of either of the two studies. He/she is simply relating the findings.

Doubt in 1st question.

"However, Gershin found that social media tools fostered company culture because they provided employees a means of planning social events, something they might not have done using traditional forms of communication."

This is the line which mentions about the effect of social media in workplace. It says it improved as employees can social events.....
Option A says they can use traditional/company tools then social media can be redundant right. So this will weaken his validity.

However, Gershin found that social media tools fostered company culture because they provided employees a means of planning social events, something they might not have done using traditional forms of communication.

use only \(\neq\) might not have done using traditional forms

I hope now you see how A does not weaken the argument

Instead

D. The thoughts of middle and upper-level managers do not accurately reflect the thoughts of those most likely to use social media in the workplace.


Additionally, he uses data collected from surveys : surveys are always biased somehow
