If a line passes through the origin and has a negative slope, it must pass through Quadrant II and Quadrant IV.
However, given that a<b, we know (a,b) is confined to Quadrant II only (bc all points in Quadrant IV have positive values for a and negative values for b). We're also given that \(ab \neq 0\), so neither a nor b can equal 0 (i.e., the origin point). Therefore, b > 0.
