Let S = number of square badges, T = number of triangular badges, X = total number of badges.
"One quarter of the badges are square", so \(S = \frac{1}{4}X\)
"One third of the remaining badges are triangular", so \(\frac{1}{3}(1-\frac{1}{4})X = T --> \frac{1}{3}(\frac{3}{4})X = \frac{1}{4}X = T\)
\(S = \frac{1}{4}X = T\)
\(S = T\)
