Great question!!!
Given:
\(15x+6y=31\)
\(6x+24y=17\)
Subtract the bottom equation from the top equation to get: \((15x+6y)-(6x+24y=17)=31-17\)
Simplify: \(9x-18y=14\)
Factor the left side to get: \(9(x-2y)=14\)
Aha!! Divide both sides by \(9\) to get: \(x-2y=\frac{14}{9}\)
Answer: B
