I don't understand the use of the word "pairs", e.g. "Each PAIR of houses on Elm Street is connected by exactly one telephone line"
How is this pairing done? Are adjacent houses a "pair". Are houses on the opposite side of the street a "pair". I don't understand.
Does the telephone line just connect one house to another house? I drew 6 houses on one side and 4 on the other and then drew a line to connect each house and made essentially a circular circuit, and had only 2 lines connecting houses on the opposite side of the street.
