First we label any angles or sides not already labeled. Two interior angles are given; the third must be 43 (assume degrees).
If we had a scientific calculator, we could use trig to find all the sides. But we don't, and we don't even need it to determine how the area will compare with 8.
The wider the angle, the larger the side opposite that angle, and vice versa. Because the side opposite 47 is 4, the side opposite 43 degrees is less than 4. We can just label it <4.
Now let's calculate the area, using the formula A = 1/2 * b * h.
H is 4. Therefore,
1/2 * b * 4 = 2 * <4. This is not perfect mathematical notation, but it reminds us that b is a number less than 4.
2 * 4 would be 8, so 2 * <4 would be less than 8. Therefore, the answer is B.
