The average between k and an unknown number x is \(frac{k+x}{2}=35\). Thus rearranging is straightforward to find that \(x=70-k\). Answer D!

Theory: Average = \(\frac{Sum Of All The Values}{Total Number Of Values}\)
If the average (arithmetic mean) of two numbers is 35 and one of the numbers is k
Let other number be x
=> Sum of all the values= k + x
Using, Average = \(\frac{Sum Of All The Values}{Total Number Of Values}\), We get
35 = \(\frac{k+x}{2}\)
=> k + x = 35*2 = 70
=> x = 70-k
So, Answer will be D
