Since \((a+b)^2=36\), (a+b) could either be 6 or -6.

If (a+b) = 6, then a = 14 and the Quantities are equal.

If (a+b) = -6, then a = 2 and Quantity A is less than Quantity B.

Therefore, the relationship cannot be determined from the given info.

Now

\((a+b)^2=36\) is = to \(a+b= \pm 6\)

\(a= \pm 6 - b\)

\(a= 6+8=14\)

OR

\(a= -6+8=2\)

So, as you can see we might have C or B as correct choice.

because we do have two conflict answers the right choice is D
