C It does not matter in what order the members of these committees are selected, so remember to divide. Do this problem one step at a time. The number of two-person committees that can be formed from a group of nine people is 9*8/2*1=36 . The number of six-person committees that can be formed from a group of nine people is 9*8*7*6*5*4/6*5*4*3*2*1=84. So the ratio of two-person committees to six-person committees is 36/84=3/7. Be careful of choice (D), which gives the ratio of six-person committees to two-person committees. Choice (C) gives the correct ratio.
